Roar 'n Snore a very disappointing experience. We paid a hefty amount (over $350, 2 adults 1 child)) for one night at their Billabong campground. While the tent and the food where fine (great bathroom facilities) the animal walks and encounters were quite disappointing. On the night of the arrival we were taken on a very short walk quite late at night (the kids were dragging themselves) to see: 1 wallaby, 1 koala and 1 dingo!

We hired bikes and took a picnic lunch and made a day and a half of it. We will be back.

Considering that we came from Sydney (6 hours drive) this was absolutely not worth the trip and/or the money. Sydney Taronga zoo has far more engaging activities and exciting views.

The morning after we were rushed through breakfast to then see 2 tigers, a couple of primates and the so called "behind the scenes" which consisted of 30 minutes watching some chewed up plastic tanks (with explanation of why they were chewed) and 3 otters in a cage. Then pack up and leave the campground by 9am.

Whether youre passing through or Dubbo is your destination; Western Plains Zoo is a two day must. BYO push bike or hire one, electric carts for hire, drive in the comfort of your own vehicle or walk the 7km zoo circuit, theres something for everyone.
