HIghly recommended to check this place out, there are plenty of stories of how the prisons were run in the 1800's. Our criminals should these days should be happy they weren't born back then.

We had a wonderful family visit to Old Dubbo Gaol - it's in a great location in the lovely Dubbo Town Centre and really easy to find.

Smallish building with two wings of cells. Some interesting stories and takes on its convict past. If you have an hour or two to kill in Dubbo this could be an option.

My kids loved it. The show was fun for the younger kids. The tour was informative, we learned about how prisoners broke out of jail and how someone broke in... they a unique small theatre here... even my kids were interested in seating down to listen more about their history.

We spent ages wandering around and looking at all the exhibits and info - it's really well preserved and the info on display puts you right in the scene of when it was a working prison.

The staff were super friendly and knowledgable - one of the highlights was the guided tour recounting tales of convict escapes of the past - do not miss it!
