  Workman-like though not exceptional food marred by awful service. Very, very slow service for a start. Waiter apologised twice for inordinate wait but that's small consolation. Had to flag "waiter" down to ask for wine list, water and coffee. And, finally, the "coffee" was the weakest coffee I've ever been given. Ended up leaving 2/3 as just undrinkable. Never again.

  I am from Sydney and travel for business, from time to time staying in Dubbo. Every time I have, I have dined at Veldt. Stumbled upon it by chance as it is below my hotel, but it never fails to impress. The Chef Brad and his wife Nat run a professional operation full of taste sensations. It stands up with the best dining experiences I have had in my home town and Dubbo can be very proud. The owners don't know me as a regular as my visits are spaced out, but I booked online this time and they called me to say that they were closed for a private functions at 7pm. However, they said they could open the doors for me and make sure I was looked after as long as I was able to leave before the function. Now, THAT is service above and beyond the call of duty. I felt very special sitting up on my own being served delicious dining treats. Thank you again for looking after me, and if you are in Dubbo......do yourself a favour!
